Detroit’s: Become Human developer Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm Games are currently working on Star Wars Eclipse. This new action-adventure game will occur during the Star Wars High Republic Ere. Its storyline and plot will introduce new characters to follow. It was first announced three years ago and stated to be in early development. Since then, we haven’t been given much information about this exciting new game, but we do have information from CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere, who spoke last year at Gamescom. He assured fans that Eclipse would be a different type of game than anything they had done before.
Star Wars Eclipse Joins The Epic Saga
No office release date has been given, so we can only speculate. As to the release date, it was announced that it was in early development three years ago, so we are most likely two to three years away. Quantic Dream has also announced that they have not experienced any delays in producing content thus far. We can also assume that from past productions, Eclipse will be featured on PC, PS5, and the Xbox Series X.
In the Star Wars Eclipses trailer, which was released with the aforementioned announcement of the game at the Game Awards, we were shown no in-game footage but were given a diversified image of what the game would be like. Eclipse will feature several elements of the Star Wars universe, such as speeder bikes, planets of ice and sand, droids, Jedi, and people and aliens, both familiar and diversified.
We Don’t Just Have The Trailor
Along with the trailer, we have several screenshots depicting what we will see in the gameplay. We have been shown different planets, Jedi battles, space exploration, and blaster fights. It also appears that players will fly overseas, interact with animal life, wander a variety of streets filled with the worst scum of the galaxy and fly across the stars.
However, when it was announced, not everyone was thrilled as there was some apprehension about the involvement of the previous French studio, who were allegedly involved in legal battles. There have also been negative reactions toward Quantic and David Cage’s ability to work on a Star Wars open-world game. Cage has also been accused of being negative toward women and the LGBTQIA+ community and how they are excluded in stories and games.
What Will The Story Be Like
We are assured that it will have an original Star Wars story. Its location will revolve around an uncharted region of the Outer Rim and a golden age of the Jedi. This means the game takes place when the Galactic Republic was at the pinnacle of power—before the dark times, before the Clone Wars, before the Empire, and before there are still regions of space unexplored.
Right now, Star Wars has released Outlaws. Disney aims to release at least one major Star Wars title and smaller ones yearly. We know Respawn is also working on a Star Wars strategy game that is in collaboration with a studio, Bit Reactor; it is so far untitled. We also expect a remake of Knights of the Old Republic, Amy Hennig’s Star Wars game, and Star Wars Jedi 3.
With all these titles, if Disney wishes to bring out one of these titles every year, then we may have to wait a while before Eclipse’s release. However, no dates are given for any of the games listed above, so we could get lucky and not have to wait long. Rumor has it that it could be released in two years.
