Stardew Valley Golden Walnut Locations in 2024

Golden Walnuts are one of the most valuable resources introduced in the 1.5 update of Stardew Valley. These shiny, golden items aren’t just collectibles—they are critical to your progress on Ginger Island. In this article, I’m going to go over everything you need to know from Stardew Valley golden walnut locations to what they’re used for.

What Are Golden Walnuts?

Golden walnuts are a currency unique to Ginger Island. Each walnut you collect brings you closer to unlocking important areas, NPC interactions, and new features that expand the game in meaningful ways. You’ll find that Golden Walnuts are scattered across the island, waiting for you to solve puzzles, explore hidden corners, and complete challenges to gather them.

Stardew Valley Golden Walnut Locations

Below, you’ll find all Stardew Valley golden walnut locations.

Stardew Valley Golden Walnut Locations on the Beach (Southern Island)

The Beach Area on the southern side of Ginger Island is one of the first areas players can explore after unlocking access to the island. The beach has five golden walnuts total, they’re relatively easy to find compared to other areas. These early walnuts help you unlock the parrot system and give you the opportunity to open up new areas of the island.

As you walk along the beach, you’ll often notice small circular marks on the ground. These circular marks indicate there’s a buried golden walnut. Equip your hoe and dig in this area to find a walnut. In addition to walnuts hidden in the ground, you’ll also find puzzle-based golden walnuts. These puzzles require you to pay attention to and interact with your surroundings.

Stardew Valley Golden Walnut Locations in the Jungle (Western Island)

The jungle contains a total of eight golden walnuts. In the Jungle, the first place you’ll want to focus on is the trees. Unlike other areas where you may need to dig or complete puzzles, some golden walnuts are in plain sight. Certain trees in the jungle will drop golden walnuts when you shake them.

To the far west of the Jungle lies an old jungle temple, and nearby, you’ll find a hidden path obscured by vines and dense foliage. Follow this path carefully to discover additional golden walnuts hidden within small clearings. A part of Ginger Island that I found the most tricky is the jungle’s natural maze. There are sections where the path seems to come to an end, but players can actually walk through certain bushes or trees to access hidden areas. These areas usually lead to golden walnuts. Additionally, the jungle also contains various puzzles that reward players with golden walnuts.

Stardew Valley Golden Walnut Locations in the Volcano Dungeon (Northern Island)

The volcano dungeon is one of the most challenging yet rewarding areas of Ginger Island. It has dangerous enemies and complex puzzles, offering a unique gameplay experience that’s unlike anything players have seen in this farming sim previously. Exploring the volcano dungeon thoroughly is of the utmost importance for finding golden walnuts. The dungeon has different floors, each having different challenges and opportunities to find rare items, including the walnuts.

  • Hidden in Rocks: Some golden walnuts are hidden within rocks throughout the dungeon. You can use a pickaxe to break these rocks, but more efficient walnut farming requires bombs. Bombs can quickly clear large areas of rocks.
  • Chests and Puzzle Rewards: Many of the golden walnuts in the volcano dungeon are located inside chests or are rewards for solving various in-game puzzles. Keep an eye out for treasure rooms or dead-end passages, as these often contain chests holding golden walnuts.
  • Lava Pools: Occasionally, you’ll find golden walnuts situated near lava pools. To access these, you will need to use your watering can to create pathways by cooling the lava. Defeating enemies in the dungeon can also reward you with golden walnuts.

Stardew Valley Golden Walnut Locations in the Pirate Cove (Eastern Island)

The Pirate Cove, located on the eastern side of Ginger Island, is a unique area filled with pirate-themed adventures and hidden treasures. It offers several opportunities to find golden walnuts, some of which are tied to special events and puzzles.

  • Hidden by Digging: Several Golden Walnuts are buried in the sand or hidden behind obstacles. Use your hoe to dig in specific spots marked by subtle visual cues.
  • Fishing for Walnuts: Another method for finding golden walnuts in the Pirate Cove is by fishing. Certain fishing spots in the cove are known to yield golden walnuts as rare catches.
  • Behind Obstacles: Some walnuts are hidden behind objects like crates or barrels. Look for these items scattered around the cove and interact with them to reveal the walnuts.

The Pirate Cove is home to several engaging pirate-themed puzzles that, when solved, reward you with golden walnuts. Here’s a look at some of these puzzles and how to solve them:

  • Treasure Map Puzzle: One of the key puzzles involves a treasure map you’ll find near the entrance. The map will show you Stardew Valley golden walnut locations where you need to dig or interact with objects.
  • Cannon Puzzle: In the Pirate Cove, you’ll encounter a puzzle involving a cannon. To solve this puzzle, you need to load the cannon with the correct number of cannonballs and fire it at specific targets. Each hit will unlock a hidden area that leads to a golden walnut or reveals a golden walnut itself.
  • Pirate’s Riddle: This riddle will guide you to a specific location in the cove where you’ll need to perform a specific task to gain a golden walnut.

Stardew Valley Golden Walnut Locations from the Island Farm

The island farm is a large space dedicated to growing crops. What’s unique about it is the ability to grow crops year-round. You can specifically plant crops only found on Ginger Island or increase your profit by planting seeds like ancient fruit. This area is not only great for daily farming but also has the potential to find golden walnuts.

Look for hidden spots around the farm where golden walnuts may be buried. Use your hoe to dig in areas where it looks like a small circular rock formation. I would like to mention, don’t just look for these in the open, they can sometimes be in corners or behind farm structures as well.

Wrapping Up

Golden walnuts are crucial for progressing through Ginger Island, unlocking new areas, and accessing valuable rewards. By following this guide on Stardew Valley golden walnut locations, you can streamline your walnut collection process. Prioritize areas based on accessibility and reward potential, use your tools effectively, and engage with puzzles and events. With these strategies, you’ll be well on your way to gathering all the golden walnuts you need for a successful adventure on Ginger Island.
