Super Mario Party Jamboree, the latest entry in Nintendo’s iconic Mario Party series, is currently a favorite in Super Mario‘s home country of Japan. Although the game has been out for several months, Japanese players apparently can’t get enough of the chaotic minigames Mario plays with his friends, as is demonstrated by the game’s massive sales.
Famitsu Sales
According to Famitsu, Super Mario Party Jamboree sold around 11,467 copies in Japan between March 31 and April 6th. Although the game was released on October 17, 2024, it is still going strong almost six months later. In addition, Famitsu reported that every game in the top ten selling games for this week was for the Nintendo Switch, except for one. Monster Hunter Worlds for the Play Station 5, the second-highest selling game, was the only game in the top ten not on a Nintendo platform.
Super Mario Party Jamboree tops 1,000,000 copies sold
Over a million copies of Super Mario Party Jamboree have been sold in Japan alone, showing the power of the Mario Party series. Debuting in 1999 on the Nintendo 64, the first Mario Party immediately won gamers over with its combination of board game simulation and creative minigames that could be learned in a matter of seconds. Super Mario Party Jamboree is the thirteenth mainline game in the series. It is the first game in the series to feature Pauline and Ninji as playable characters, and it maintains the multiplayer chaos that the series is known for.
A New Life for Super Mario Party Jamboree?
The Japanese sales of Super Mario Party Jamboree show that the game still has plenty of life in it, but will that momentum remain after the Nintendo Switch 2 releases? Nintendo has already thought of how to keep the momentum going since they will be releasing a new Nintendo Switch 2 edition of the game on July 24th. This mode will apparently feature new minigames that take advantage of the Switch 2’s new features, such as mouse control and voice chat. This will undoubtedly keep people partying for a long time to come.
