Teamfight Tactics Set 14: Patenting Exotech Items Becomes the Key to Victory

Teamfight Tactics Exotech

Anima Squad has weapons, Street Demon has paint, and Exotech has Items in Teamfight Tactics Set 14. All these items are tailored specifically for use on specific units to maximize their potential. Due to the variance in available Exotech Items, playing this vertical comp depends on what gets offered to players. As a result, playing Exotech is a more complex trait to pull off compared to Anima Squad and Street Demon.

Exotech has seven units in total. Players must field all seven units in most games to cap out the trait. With an Emblem, you can drop one unit, which will likely be Naafiri. Since Jax shares Bastion with Sejuani and Jhin provides Sunder (Reduces armor) and Dynamo, they remain vital units. The units with the trait in order of cost from lowest to highest are Jax, Jhin, Naafiri, Mordekaiser, Varus, Zeri, and Sejuani.

The listed Exotech Items will always have recommended users, so going with that is a good baseline to know where they go. However, there are Items you want to look out for when deciding to play this composition. The best Items are the Flux Capacitor, Pulse Stabilizer, Corrupted Chassis, and Repulsor Lantern. Zeri and Sejuani are your two Item users in most games. You can unequip Exotech Items by moving the unit onto the bench.

Exotech Early Game

This build only has one cost unit in Jax, meaning you are relying on finding Jhin and Naafiri to have a good early game. Any Bastion alongside Jax in the early game will enable this comp to succeed in the early game. Hitting two-star Jax is ideal but is not required. Tank items go on Jax, while Zeri Items (Guinsoo’s Rageblade and Hextech Gunblade) are the best fit for Jhin to carry in the early game. If players want to winstreak, slamming items is necessary for the early game since the units benefit from equipping more items.

Exotech Mid-Game

Adding Varus and Mordekaiser in the mid-game will propel this composition forward, giving the board five Exotech and an additional Item. Hitting one of your four costs at this stage is unlikely, but they should immediately go onto your board if you get one. If you find an upgraded Mordekaiser, moving items from Jax to him should be a priority, as he will serve as a significantly better tank at this stage. You are predominantly looking to put most of your gold into leveling, as this comp needs levels eight and nine to hit the max cap.

Exotech Late Game

By now, you should have upgraded Zeri and Sejuani. Without them, the board is significantly weaker. While Jhin does deal a decent amount of damage, finding leftover tank items for Mordekaiser and five costs is more vital. Buying time for Zeri’s Gunisoo’s Rageblade to ramp up will allow you to win most fights.

Several five costs can cap out the board. Aurora is the best since she provides Dynamo for the entire board and throws in an additional unit with her ability. Alternative options are Kobuko and Viego. Kobuko gives the board Bruiser and adds in more frontline and Crowd Control. Viego, on the other hand, brings in Techie to lower the enemy team’s damage output and has a hologram that adds a unit to the board.

When to Play Exotech

There are two substantial aspects to consider when wanting to play this composition. The number one priority is the Exotech Items on offer. If they are the best to use, that is one aspect ticked off. The second variable to consider is whether the game began with several components. In other words, can you comfortably craft at least two items in the early game? Both of these are crucial to the success of this composition, and you should not be looking to play this composition without them. Both Exotech Augments boost the power of your composition, but you should not take them if you do not check off the previous aspects.

Best Augments to Take

Augments in the early game you should be on the lookout for provide additional components. More components mean you can increase the potency of your composition throughout the entire game. Buried Treasures is the best-in-slot option to take. More items help any composition, but it thrives off it, given the stats the trait provides and scales based on the items you have equipped. An economic Augment like Raining Gold or Epoch will help you reach levels eight and nine. The Exotech Augments are great to take, as they offer additional Items. Cyberdeck, especially, allows you to spread out your items and guarantees you will have the best Exotech Items.
