Teamfight Tactics: What Lies Ahead in Set 14

Teamfight Tactics

Teamfight Tactics’ Battle for Cyber City has raged in the Public Beta Environment (PBE) for the past two weeks. The Battle moves to live servers on Wednesday, the 2nd of April. With Set 14’s arrival, we say goodbye to the Into the Arcane Set, which has provided us with memorable moments. For those of you who have not been paying attention to the PBE or any news surrounding Cyber City, this article is for you.

Hacks are legal in Riot Games‘ Teamfight Tactics for the first time since the game’s release. However, these hacks are not the ones you are probably thinking of. The Hack Set Mechanic is far more innocent and benevolent. Each Battle for Cyber City has around three hacks for all players. The types of hacks that can occur differ for each game. Some Hacks alter the opening encounter, some affect Augment choices, while others may grant players additional health or even a cheeky loot egg.

Some examples of Hacks players can expect in Cyber City are Black Market Augments, item carousels having component anvils instead of units, or an opening encounter that gives an additional Augment round. There is more to experience, but we do not want to spoil too much before you enter the convergence.

Cyber City Units and Traits

Cyber City sees the return of some familiar traits used in previous sets. Traits like Anima Squad, Vanguard, Bastion, Strategist, Bruiser, Rapidfire, and Slayer players will be recognised in Set 14. For those who remember the K/DA trait from Remix Rumble, Street Demons functions similarly, having particular hexes that boost the unit’s stats. Cypher is the go-to for players who love risk traits and want to push the ‘health is a resource’ mantra to its fullest.

Two units that have excited players during testing are Garen and Zac. Both are five costs, similar to threats from Monsters Attack. Garen can grant unit mods. These mods give units additional traits but do not add to the trait web. Zac infects a player’s shop with Blobs that cost zero gold and increase his Health and Ability Power.

Further Changes

There could not be a new set without brand-new cosmetics. The three notable cosmetics players can spend treasure tokens on are Project: Vayne Unbound, Chibi Forecast Janna, and the board Project: Edgefall. But the cosmetics do not stop there, players can expect Yone as the Set’s prestige Chibi and a new cosmetic type, portals.

Lastly, for those Double Up players, the mode is officially moved out of Workshop mode and is receiving some updates. Gone is the Rune of Allegiance mechanic, replaced by a friendship cannon that can send units and trade items. Furthermore, players will never have to worry about spending thirty gold on a radiant item to give as a gift to their friend. All gifts are now streamlined and free across the board.
