The final character for season 1 was released recently, Clive from Final Fantasy XVI. This has left fans wondering what is in store for Season 2. Bandai Namco hosted a live stream to reveal what gamers can expect in the next season and started the presentation with a special message. On its first anniversary, more than 3 million copies of the game have been bought or downloaded. Many were surprised when Tekken 8 was on the list of top-selling games in 2024, but this shows that was not a mistake.

This puts it on pace to be the best-selling game in the series. Tekken 7 sold 12 million copies in 10 years. This installment is already a quarter of the way to beating its predecessor after only one year. The studio wants to keep this momentum going. In order for any game to keep momentum moving forward, more content has to be released. The roster is already stacked, and the developers are showing no signs of stopping.

Teasing Season 2

Bandai Namco said they have “a lot of cool stuff planned” for Season 2. The first news is a huge Season 2 update will be free to all players. While there will be some DLC for purchase in 2025, this update will give all players access to key features and updates. The game is adding a Ghost vs. Ghost feature as well as balance adjustments and ranked match tweaks. However, the main thing everyone is excited to know is what fighters will be added.

Longtime fans of the series were happy to hear that legacy character Anna Williams will be added to the game soon. She first appeared in the original 1994 Tekken and is the sister of Nina Williams. Season 2 is set to feature six DLCs, two stages, and four characters over the course of 2025. Players can expect plenty of content to be released, and this should continue the momentum toward breaking records for the series.

Final Thoughts

Tekken 8 shows no signs of slowing down. The developers thanked players for their loyalty to the franchise. 2025 looks to be another banner year for the game, and the new DLC should add more excitement. The game can be downloaded through Steam and PlayStation 5.
