On July 20th, Tennocon 2024 shook the gaming landscape with many exciting reveals. From showing behind-the-scenes audio mixing to never-before-seen concept art to revealing the next three updates this year, this Tennocon was jam-packed with new content. Today, we’ll be focusing on the reveals shown during Tennolive and going over the implications this could mean for the future of Warframe.
‘Lotus Eaters’ coming August 2024
As stated, three new updates are coming to the game later this year. The first of the three- releasing in August this year- is titled ‘Lotus Eaters’. In Greek mythology, lotus eaters are a sect of people under the philosopher Homer who are described as living in a dream-like and idle state. This coincides with the recent events in Warframe where our surrogate mother, the Lotus, appears to be in an amnesic state after our encounter with The Man in the Wall. ‘Lotus Eaters’ will be a prologue quest to ‘Warframe: 1999′, and it will likely shed more light on the Lotus’s current mental state.
Also coming in this update is our 58th Warframe: Sevagoth Prime. He will launch with his signature weapon, Epitaph Prime, and his loyal companion, Nautilus Prime. He sports a nautical- yet regal- look to further his sea captain theme. Sevagoth Prime will also be the first prime access to be released with a Signa. Sevagoth isn’t the only one getting an upgrade, though; keep reading to discover who else is receiving some TLC in 2024!
Warframe‘s Tokyo Game Show segment will reveal a second fall update
Next in the list of upcoming releases for Warframe is an update dubbed: ‘Unannounced 2024 Update’. Further information will be provided at the Tokyo Game Awards 2024, but we know a few details regarding quality of life (QOL) changes. The companion rework part two will be coming in this ambiguous update. This will complete the first wave of companion changes released back in 2023. Another QOL change coming to ‘Unannounced 2024 Update’ is the introduction of Arsenal favorites. With this update, you will now be able to select your favorite gear to play with, and once selected, the gear will appear at the top of your Arsenal.
Caliban is also receiving some TLC in the form of a complete rework and a new deluxe skin. Although only a few details of the rework have been released, we were shown a thorough in-game look at his new skin (with a ghostly Ephemera to match!). In complement to Caliban’s new ability roster, five new incarnon weapons will be attainable. There are no details yet on how to obtain these new upgrades. The last of the revealed features of this content drop is the introduction of our 59th Warframe. More on who this Warframe is will be announced live at the Tokyo Game Show 2024!
Experience motorcycle racing and a dating minigame in ‘Warframe: 1999’
The third and final update coming this year will be the highly anticipated ‘Warframe: 1999’. This huge content drop was first teased at last year’s Tennocon, however with the recent developments of Tennocon 2024, we now have a much clearer picture of what this update entails. The title is likely a play on Cyberpunk: 2077 due to the post-apocalyptic cyberpunk feel of ‘Warframe: 1999’. During this year’s Tennolive, we got a glimpse into the world of Höllvania- the city where this update’s new characters reside. From glowing LED signs on every storefront to infested flesh tunnels, it’s safe to say Höllvania is an experience all on its own.
Most of the content revealed in this year’s Tennocon revolved around the characters living in Höllvania. We were already introduced to Arthur (Excalibur) and Aoi (Mag) in last year’s Tennocon, however this time around, we got four new Protoframes to look at: Volt, Trinity, Nyx, and an all-new Warframe: Cyte-09. This group- dubbed the Hex- will be a new faction coming to Warframe very soon.
The Hex have set base in an abandoned mall complex where you can discover the new in-game boyband On-Lyne, build relationships with the Protoframes, and go on missions to fight off the threats looming in Höllvania. We were introduced to the Scaldra, a militant faction in the world of 1999 that harnesses the Infestation to gain power. With Albrecht Entrati still on the loose as well, it’s safe to say the Tenno and the Protoframes have a lot on their plates when it comes to defending the Origin System.
