Terra Invicta’s 1 Massive challenging Update: Adding Exofighters

Terra Invicta update

Terra Invicta, the space version of Crusader  Kings, was released into early access back in 2022 by Pavonis Interactive and published by Hooded Horse. They only have the one game as of right now and that game is the one. the only. Terra Invicta and they seem to be going all out for this game, setting it up for the long haul with the early release already being dubbed complex and dense with complex management of factions, which I would only assume to be.. rather difficult with aliens running around trying to “domesticate” the human race. The developers added even more complications, though, in the newest update, in case anyone felt like they were winning or anything silly like that.

A Massive Update Indeed

Terra Invicta has released a new update out into the wings that adds many new overhauls that fans have been asking for, such as cleaner hubs for visual readability improvement, all across each system, yes including the tech tree, so you may understand what the heck you’re pressing. We are also getting a ledger to track your income and expenses, adjusted for victory conditions, so most factions want to focus on controlling major planetary systems instead of throwing themselves out to the wild and overextending themselves nicely. It’s nice to see a bit more common sense from your allies.

There’s a whole host of other changes like adding 35 new traits and two more  Councilors, New National Priorities, you get the idea, see the rest here!

The Coolest Ship Around

There’s, of course, another update that we simply have to talk about. Terra Invicta has made the wonderful choice to add in Exofighters’ small craft that launch from the planet bases to reside in low Earth orbit, which will be pretty helpful defense-wise, as one could only dream of the patrol system that could be set in motion.

Just in case you were getting stars in your eyes, Pavonis Interactive has a solution to your wide-eyed wonder. As taken straight from the changelog, ” Two new alien ship classes have been introduced for late-game combat. The Aliens can also deploy a new tier of advanced weapons during the endgame.” If that sounds as concerning to you as it does to me, then don’t worry! Human-controlled factions will build combat ships more aggressively so you can all die together under the next alien onslaught! Yay for team bonding.

Already a Game to Watch

This game has been in early release for a good while at this point, and with an update this large, one would think that it would make a dent in the overall vision seen for it. No. Not even close, actually. This release has the game version to 0.4.78, not even rounded up to the nearest 0.500! This means this already intense strategy game is in it for the long haul.

Luckily, the developers of Terra Invicta have some experience working on games with the needed dedication, as this studio is made up of the people who made XCOM’s Long War mod. It’s a pretty good indication that they can follow through on their promises, and I have some high hopes for the future!
