The Coolest Fallout 4 Endings

Fallout 4 soundtrack is great

With the Fallout TV show doing so well, Fallout 4 is back in the public consciousness. Maybe it’s your first time in the game, or maybe you’re back after an absence. If you don’t mind some spoilers, here’s a tease of the best endings. The game is known for having multiple endings, keeping true to the RPG mantra that gameplay can be totally unique to you. Players can trigger different endings by doing different things.

Liberty for All (Kinda)

If you’re coming from the Fallout series on Amazon, you’ve seen the Brotherhood of Steel. They’re a paramilitary organization focused on collecting old-world technology after the apocalypse. In Fallout 4, they fight against the Institute, creators of artificial humans called Synths. In the Boston Police Station, you’ll meet Paladin Danse. He’s a Brotherhood member with a short questline. If you earn his trust, you can ultimately become a soldier in the Brotherhood. This will lead to you rebuilding a giant robot called Liberty Prime from Fallout 3. With the robot’s massive strength, you storm the Institute to destroy them once and for all. It’s basically the best.

Free the Synths

Another one of Fallout 4’s main factions is called the Railroad. Basing themselves off of ancient slave liberators, they work to free Synths from the Institute’s control. This puts them at odds with the Brotherhood too. Some rumor-mongers in Diamond City can help lead you to the Railroad. When you find their secret lair, you can undergo a series of quests. Upon completion, you’ll join them as a new agent. The Railroad’s quest will ultimately lead to you using stealth, guile, and some gunplay against their enemies. You’ll blow up both the Brotherhood’s airship and the Institute’s base. It’s a lot of fun and feels like a spy movie.

Got Another Settlement For You

A lot of players find the Minutemen to be Fallout 4‘s worst faction. Preston Garvey names you the leader of the group early on before inundating you with quests. However, build up an army of settlements for the Minutemen and you’ll find their usefulness. The Minutemen aren’t picky and don’t care who else you side with. This means you can try out the Brotherhood and Railroad quests to a point.

Once you can travel to the Institute, use the Minutemen to do so. Attack the Institute while you’re down there and they declare war on the Minutemen. Follow this ending and you can destroy the Institute. This leaves the Brotherhood and Railroad intact and as allies. It provides a safer world for the characters to live in and eliminates a strong enemy all in the same fell swoop. Best of all worlds!

What Should You Choose?

Fallout 4‘s myriad endings are ultimately similar in a few key ways. After each ending, you’ll return to the game and be free to continue adventuring. This means you can peruse DLC, mods, or those sidequests you missed. As such, picking an ending mostly is about who you want to still be around in the aftermath. As such, the Minutemen ending gives you the most potential. The NPCs of the two still-living factions remain there for you to quest with. Ultimately, it’s your choice whether you roleplay a defined character or not. Heck, I didn’t even mention siding with the Institute! Enjoy the replay value of Fallout 4 and dig into its myriad choices.
