The Crew Motorfest and Gran Turismo 7 are some of the best racing games that players can enjoy right now. The Crew Motorfest is an online open-world racing game that was developed by Ubisoft. It is a live-service product that is getting regular updates and is available on all platforms. Gran Turismo 7 is much more of a driving simulator and offers some of the most immersive and realistic driving experiences. It is, however, only available to play on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. With the launch of PS5 Pro on November 7, both of these games are getting some major quality-of-life updates as well as some enhancements.
The Crew Motorfest Update
On November 6, The Crew Motorfest received a major update. This marked the launch of Season 5 of the game. Season 5 is huge as it comes with a brand-new map that is set on the volcanic island of Maui and also brings two new playlists. It also brought a major number of quality-of-life improvements that players have been asking for, as well as 28 new cars that are a part of the Year 2 pass.
Along with all these major updates, this game also received a ton of enhancements and visual upgrades on the PlayStation 5 Pro console. It will offer more visual detail, sharper visual quality, and a better driving experience. The game has a much higher frame rate when compared to other consoles and an improved graphic quality. All this is possible thanks to Sony’s AI Upscaler called “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution” (PSSR). This allows the games on PS5 Pro to have improved fps while also running on a higher resolution.
All the PS5 Pro Enhancements
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution will allow The Crew Motorfest to benefit from the following visual enhancements:
- Being able to run at 60 fps instead of 30 fps on PlayStation 5.
- PSSR will upscale the resolution to 1696p, offering a more immersive driving experience.
- Providing better image quality and visual detail by adding 15% more geometry around tiny objects on the ground.
- The crowd density in races has also been increased.
- Shadow quality has been improved for the sun, moon, and other smaller objects.
- Shadows that are cast from the cloud will travel 25% further and with a much higher visual quality. This will allow every race to feel more realistic.
- In general, there is an increase in visual detail of about 10%.
- Enhancing mesh rendering quality by 10%.
- Providing greater detail on reflective surfaces with screen space reflections that are up to 40% more accurate.
- Improved terrain geometry for off-road tracks and beach areas with enhanced detail.
- An increase of 10% in the detail of “specular irradiance” produced by volumetric clouds.
Gran Turismo 7 Update
The Crew Motorfest is not the only racing game benefiting from PSSR on PS5 Pro. Gran Turismo 7 also received major visual updates. This game is now able to run at 8k resolution for the first time. This is impressive on its own, but it will also run at 60 fps even at the highest resolution. 8k resolution with 60 fps is an amazing level of visual quality, one that cements this game as one of the most immersive and captivating racing experiences.
In addition to that, the game also received a ton of visual enhancements while running at 4k resolution. The main programmer at Polyphony Digital, the studio behind this game, had this to say about this update. “Gran Turismo 7 will feature experimental support for 8K/60fps output. Players will be able to see the precisely modeled cars and tracks in unprecedented detail and clarity, with a breathtaking sense of presence.”
