This is the 1:1 replica of the new Pip-Boy 3000 Mk V as seen in Amazon Prime’s Fallout TV series. Bethesda has dubbed this as one of the best cosplay items money can buy at a listed price of $199.00 before taxes and shipping. As of the writing of this article, it is available for pre-order with shipping scheduled to begin in November of this year for fans who placed their orders before April 17th.
However, for the ones who had to wait until after that date, like myself, orders are unfortunately scheduled to ship in February of 2025. That means if you planned on making this a Christmas present for a die-hard fan in your life, you’re out of luck. Though, if all goes well, it will be worth the wait. Let’s go over some of the many features in this latest Pip-Boy model to see why.
Exploring the Features
First and foremost, you can wear this replica. This Pip-Boy features a memory foam cuff liner for the average wasteland wanderer’s comfort. For those who might feel the need for some entertainment while fighting off raiders and feral ghouls, this model can connect to your favorite FM radio station. It will fit right in with the post-apocalyptic style of the Fallout universe as well. This model has a die-cast metal front casing as well as a hand-painted weathered finish.
If you don’t want to wear this Pip-Boy on your wrist, it also functions as a display piece. It will come with a solid metal stand to show it off. This allows it to be used as a pretty unique digital clock, handy for those who want to know how long they were asleep while healing injuries gained by a violent encounter with a super mutant.
The screen itself is an animated TFT LCD screen that will be able to play more than 45 different screens taken from the ones shown on the TV series. Some of those screens do not show up in the games. These are controlled by the functional knobs on the front of the item. To keep that screen from dying, this Pip-Boy contains a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, also known as a LiPo battery. You can charge it for on-the-go use or keep it running for constant display via the USB-C cable that comes with it.
