The Sinking City 2 is the sequel of the first installment in the Lovecraftian Mythos this game is featured in. This is a survival horror game developed & published by Frogwares. They are a Ukrainian video game development studio with various games under their belt, like the “Sherlock Holmes” game series that also has hints of eldritch horror within the game’s main story.
This game takes place in the city of Arkham, during the 1920s, which is in a town in Massachusetts where H.P. Lovecraft wrote most of his stories. With his passing, many people fell so deeply in love with his cosmic horrors and couldn’t get enough of them until Authors/Writers started working on their own horrors just to keep one of their favorite universes alive.
Frogwares’ Last Attempt to Revive The Sinking City 2
With the success of the first installment of the game The Sinking City Frogwares who was only the developer at the time, ran into some legal issues with their publishers “Nacon”. Some time had passed and Frogwares was stuck in a bind for not being able to publish their games which led to questions being asked whether they would be able to produce games still or not. Luckily they made one last call and decided to break out the big guns.
The “Kickstarter” for The Sinking City 2 has started. With over 4,500 starving die-hard fans waiting to help with the game’s release date, Frogwares managed to make well over their ask-for amount when it came to publishing the game. With a pledge amount of only $108,000, they managed to rake in a whopping $464,583, making fans flock from all over with excitement. The Sinking City 2 can now take off again on schedule as planned, and Frogwares made a name for themselves, becoming their own independent publishers with the help of an unwavering community.
What Tales of Eldritch Await for You?
The Sinking City 2 will be a 3rd-person, semi-open-world video game where you will traverse Lovecraft’s favorite city, Arkham. You’ll come across various weapons in the game, both melee and firearms. All for this horror experience you will encounter in the game. You face off against decayed civilians who have lost their minds to the madness and have been consumed by the city’s horrible ways after it was abandoned, leaving residents to endure the eldritch monsters left behind, both old and new.
This game will be loosely similar to the first installment, but a more horror aspect has been added to the mix while still giving off that eerie and mysterious tone to the game. The game doesn’t have a release date as of yet besides being”2025,” but with its Kickstarter ending in six days and them having over the amount needed to help publish the game, I think it’s safe to assume it’ll be coming out much sooner than later. Being a fan of the game series and of the author himself, I’ve been waiting eagerly for the return of this game, and I’m glad to know I am not the only one.
