It isn’t just fans of skateboarding fans that love the game. Pro Skater 3 is one of the highest-rated games for the PS2 period. For years, gamers have been wondering what is next for the series. There have been a series of rumors throughout the past year, but nothing official. VGC was the first to notice the countdown and progress bar on the official website for the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. The countdown ends on March 4 of this year, signaling that some type of announcement is coming. Obviously, we don’t know for sure what will be announced when the timer runs out, but many speculate Pro Skater 3 is getting a remake/remaster, and Pro Skater 4 is on the way. The speculation comes from a line of code that was removed from the website.

The code read “thps-3-4-countdown,” signaling that the third game will be ready soon and the fourth is coming down the line. This is a little bit of a stretch, but there is another piece of information that points to this being true. Iron Galaxy has been named as the developer involved in the project, and they were the studio that did Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2‘s PC game. The good news is we don’t have to wait long to hear the announcement.

What Makes This Game So Beloved?

There are a couple of features that make this game so much fun to play. Skateboarding and extreme sports came on the scene because of Tony Hawk. Many millennials dreamed of becoming a pro skater simply because of Hawk and his record-breaking tricks. This game gave gamers the chance to pull off combinations of tricks that would be impossible for the average person. The environments and collectibles around the maps made exploring and trying new things fun.

The other part fans fell in love with was the soundtrack. Skating around in silence or with a generic track would have been fine, but there was something about doing tricks around a map with your favorite track blaring. This is something many fans hope is coming with the announcement. The soundtrack is just as much a part of the game as doing tricks and playing as your favorite skater.

Final Thoughts

Tony Hawk Pro Skater isn’t going away. Even if there was never another game, players would continue to play the classics. It isn’t every day gamers have a blast playing a game from over 20 years ago. March 4 can’t get here fast enough.
