Top 3 Map Exclusive Wonder Weapons in Zombies

Wonder Weapons have been a staple in Call of Duty Zombies since its inception in Call of Duty: World at War with the introduction of the Ray Gun in Nacht Der Untoten. There have been many additions to the vast armory of wonder weapons ever since. Some are for the better, while others are for the worse. Some are for many maps, and others are only available on one map. There have been many beloved map-exclusive wonder weapons introduced throughout the years, but let’s take a look at the best of the best.

Alistair’s Folly

If there’s anything that the chaos story in Black Ops 4 Zombies did right, it’s the interesting wonder weapons introduced, the best of which is Alistair’s Folly. This wonder weapon appears in the chaos story map: Dead of the Night. Alistair’s Folly is a chemical-based weapon with the design of a metallic revolver, it has a semi-automatic rate of fire and fires chemical projectiles, similar to the Ray Gun but without the splash damage.

It has great damage and range for a wonder weapon, this weapon can be obtained from the mystery box or by performing a secret easter egg. Although this weapon can’t be pack-a-punched, it can be upgraded a total of two times, the first of which is the Chaos Theory, where the gun gets an improved iron sight, increased damage, and can now shoot charged projectiles that can have one of two effects. The second of which is to cause a stationary tornado to spawn at the point of impact, sucking up zombies into the air and slamming them down on the ground with enough force to kill them, great for area denial and holding down choke points.

The second blast creates an area of effect attack where should any zombie enter it, they will become confused and stand in place until death, great for crowd control. The second upgrade that can be obtained converts the weapon to Alistair’s Annihilator, the upgrade gives the weapon a small scope in place of the iron sights, an increase in damage, and two new charged blasts, making a total of four charged blast attacks.

The first newly added attack spawns a firey orb at the point of impact, any zombies that enter the area of effect will catch on fire and slowly take fire damage, great for training zombies. The last newly added attack emits a green aura at the point of impact when zombies come into contact with the area of effect, they shrink down rapidly until death, making them great for area denial and other aspects.

With all of these features, they aren’t without their downsides: charged shots require a hefty amount of your magazine size and can drain ammo fast, despite the great damage with upgrades, the damage overall can be negated in the higher rounds quickly. Regardless, this is a great wonder weapon to utilize. It’s a fan favorite and has been useful to players for a long time as well.

Blundergat

Making its first appearance in Mob of the Dead and making a reappearance in Blood of the Dead, the Blundergat is a quad barrel shotgun which in lore was created by the warden of Alcatraz Prison. The design of this unique shotgun was based on Civil War weaponry, notably, the Blunderbuss, as the designs of the barrels show. The Blundergat fires all four barrels in one shot, dealing massive close-quarters damage to zombies and even the warden, the reload time is quite fast but frequent as the user needs to reload after each shot in its base form.

When pack-a-punched, the Blundergat becomes The Sweeper, adding a metallic wolfhead to the design of the gun, and giving the gun a significant increase in damage, this allows the gun to remain effective, even in the higher rounds. In Mob of the Dead, the player can build the acid kit to add acid elements to the Blundergat and convert it into the Acidgat, which allows players to shoot acid bomb projectiles that can stick to all surfaces and even zombies.

These projectiles can attract zombies which in turn, pull attention away from the player and gain excellent crowd control, granted, the projectiles can deal splash damage to the player but it is nowhere near as bad as the Ray Gun or Tundragun. In Blood of the Dead, the Blundergat makes a grand return, with a new variant upgrade on top of the aforementioned variants. The player can participate in a secret easter egg where if the player is successful, can obtain the Magmagat.

The Magmagat fires magma-based projectiles, which can also attract zombies and deal continuous damage to them. When the player pack-a-punches the Acidgat, it becomes the Vitriolic Withering, the upgrade comes with a massive bump in ammo reserves and a slight damage increase. When the Magmagat is pack-a-punched, it becomes the Magmus Operandi, increasing the ammo reserve as well as the damage and how many zombies can be attracted to the projectile.

The Blundergat is truly a unique weapon that accommodates all player types, like those looking for raw power or those who like to utilize these weapons with the most potential. That being said, it’s not all perfect, the range for all variants is mediocre at best, and the damage for the acid or magma shots isn’t as powerful as the shotgun rounds, even when fully upgraded.

Chrysalax

Often referred to as the “Crystal Axe” for similarity and simplicity, the Chrysalax is a melee weapon and firearm hybrid that makes its one-off appearance in Forsaken. In lore, the Chrysalax is completely forged out of Dark Aether crystals that appear on the map out of the portal in the sky. When forged by performing the secret easter egg for it, it’s an epic wonder weapon to tip the odds in your favor. The melee aspect of this weapon known as the Savager mode is wonderful, it deals massive damages with both swipes, effortlessly taking down fodder enemies like zombies, plague hounds, disciples, etc.

It can even deal massive damage to elite enemies if the player swings at the enemy’s weak point, the player can also utilize a phantom blade ability which launches a blade projectile to wherever the player desires. The wonder weapon can also shift into its firearm variant known as the Storm mode, the gun fires crystals that can deal significant damage to enemies, if the player shoots the same enemy with enough projectiles, the enemy can create an explosion, damaging and affecting enemies near it.

When pack-a-punched, the Chrysalax becomes Tenebris, which is the Latin word for “Darkness”, rather fitting. The Tenebris gets a significant damage increase when pack-a-punched to tier three, allowing the user to survive in the higher rounds. However, it’s not perfect, while it’s an awesome melee weapon, the player is not invincible while using it, leading to reckless deaths should they be careless.

The Storm variant, while having great damage, range, and a unique ability, doesn’t have much ammo reserve, although ammo drops for the weapon with zombie kills, it doesn’t drop often enough to not worry about running out of ammo. The Easter egg needed to acquire the Chrysalax is tedious and quite difficult as many of the steps put the player in dangerous situations, making getting it out of the mystery box the preferred method of obtaining it. Regardless, the Chrysalax is an awesome wonder weapon that deserves a return to zombies, hopefully in Black Ops 6 Zombies.
