Everything on Strong Trish from Devil May Cry

Trish is one of the most iconic female characters from the Devil May Cry series. She first appeared in the original game back in 2001. Over the past two decades since the game series launched, the fans have been able to see this character throughout the entire game series. There have been multiple versions of the character, so let’s go through the various iterations throughout the games.

Trish in Early Devil May Cry

Trish is a mysterious character in the first Devil May Cry. She appears out of nowhere and arrives at Dante’s demon-hunting establishment, named after the game. She makes quite the chaotic entrance, by slamming her motorcycle through the entrance of Dante’s store. She then physically attacks Dante, who then defends himself, showing his awesome demonic power. Trish then reveals that she is not Dante’s enemy, and is here to take him to Mallet island, an island where demonic forces, particularly Mundus, are gathering. Mundus is the demon that killed Dante’s mother. She is shown to look almost exactly like Eva, Dante’s mother.

As the game progresses, Dante fights and encounters various demons. Towards the latter half of the game, Trish betrays Dante and attacks him while Nightmare, another demon, is fighting Dante. Dante defeats Nightmare and tells her to get lost. It is revealed in this scene that Mundus created her, and sculpted her to look just like Eva to mess with Dante. She is then taken by Mundus, and seemingly killed. Dante tries to save her, but she is already dead. Dante defeats Mundus, but when he is about to come back, Trish reappears, seemingly healthy. Trish and Dante join forces to take down Mundus, escape the island, and join forces to run their demon-killing business.

In Devil May Cry 2, there is no sign of the character in the story. She is an unlockable playable character though, sharing a similar moveset to Dante from the first game. In 3, a prequel, she does not show up. In 4 however, she finally makes a return. Dante is seemingly an estranged character in the fourth game since the main protagonist for the first half is Nero, Dante’s soon-to-be-revealed nephew.

In this game, Nero works for a militia-government organization in his town called “the Order of the Sword”. Trish goes undercover in this organization as a woman named Gloria, with a completely different skin tone and look. She does this to gather further information on their group since it was rumored that they were trying to open the portal to the demon world. Trish then reveals herself to Dante, and seemingly the audience, that it was all a disguise, and reverts to her original costume. She and Dante then fight the demons, helping Nero in taking down Sanctus, the corrupt leader of the Order.

5 and Other Appearances

If it wasn’t made obvious, the first game is Trish’s main time in the spotlight. She also appears in the fifth game but is a background character, not doing too much other than helping Nero and Dante fight demons. In a post-credit scene, Dante leaves the devil-hunting business to Trish and Lady, another female character in the series, to look after, albeit in a joking way. These are all of her appearances in the mainline series.

In DmC, Trish doesn’t appear as that is a rebooted story. Trish appears in many other non-DMC games. She is a playable fighter in Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. In these games, she attacks with the Devil Sword Sparda and her lightning powers. She is also in Viewtiful Joe, as a replacement for Sylvia in Dante’s unlockable playthrough. She also has a costume reference for Laura in Street Fighter V Arcade Edition. Trish is one of the most iconic characters in the franchise, and that’s because, like Dante, she’s been there from the start.
