V Rising its ascension to Full Release

On May 8th, 2024, V Rising, the Vampire, an open-world survival game, will be released after almost two years of early access, which began on May 17th, 2022. That being said, the game’s release of 1.0 has brought surprising updates and reworks.

I am going to be focusing mainly on its PvE aspect as I very rarely, if at all, play PvP in any game anymore. So, let’s dive into its contents for its full release and see what we can expect.

A Vampires Rising

As mentioned above, V Rising is an open-world vampire action survival game. Unlike a traditional survival game, in which you try to find food and water, this game has you go out into the world in search of blood, like a vampire. But you also learn to fear the day like an actual vampire, as when the sun comes out, you roast and die.

All jokes aside, as you go around to find blood, you will find several hosts ranging from animals to humans to v-bloods; v-bloods are unique to the play-through of the game, where they hold the strongest blood types and are bosses. I played a bit in the beginning of its early release while the hype was high, coming back now and then when an update crossed my interest.

As of playing recently, I remember the v-bloods being able to drop specific powers, meaning you would have to go and kill a certain boss to obtain a certain power. It was fun knowing to kill every boss anyway, but with recent updates, they overhauled the power system that allows you to kill a boss and unlock a tier of power from whatever level of power the boss drops.

In the meantime, while you are not out on the hunt, you can enjoy the base building. I, for one, enjoy a good base-building game. If it’s done right and has a good variety of things to be built, such as decor, I can sink hours into it, and that’s one of the main reasons why I stay away from PvP.

I would rather not have my pride and joy sunk to the bottom of the map because of war. The building was satisfying, and as someone who hasn’t played in a bit, I am excited to hop back in and see what is new. I am aware one of the updates allowed players to build up to a 3-story castle, which just makes me more excited to play it.

The unfortunate part is it wipes everyone’s saves for the new update, forcing you to start over; if I had known that, I would have gone in earlier and taken screenshots of my castle as I did like it a lot. But it gives me a chance to start over with my friends and enjoy the life of a fledgling vampire again.

What is NEW in 1.0 for V Rising?

Coming in the 1.0 update is a whole new zone: The Hollowed Mountains. The new area will flaunt new challenges through new enemies and events. Live events will be new to the game as they will introduce new ways to get valuable resources for the endgame. The game will also launch with a Castlevania collab, bringing characters in as bosses, including the famous Dracula as a major boss and Simon Belmont as a mini-boss that walks around the open world.

New weapons and bosses will be coming as well. I haven’t played it a ton since the release, but I plan to. A fresh start game with a new progression system and an endgame now sounds pretty good to me. It’s nice to see this game finally get its full release. It surely deserves it. After playing it a bit, you will find new traders with whom you can trade coins for blueprints to obtain new outfits and weapon upgrades.

New weapons like bows, staffs, and whips will make the game more fun and unique, especially when you can get armor to make up your vampire; everyone can start to live out their fantasy in the game and enjoy their creation. I can’t wait to get into the base building.

Opinions

V Rising

After playing the new update for a bit, I can say I enjoy it more than I have from the beginning; coming back to the game, I am having the same joy I had when I first started it. Even in a strictly PvE setting, it feels good. Again, I have always been the one for building, so decorating my castle, building it up, and being able to use it and live in it makes it a satisfying experience.

Especially when I can go out on the “hunt” for new servants for my castle. I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a vampire game, as this represents it beautifully, and even with its twists on some of the original lore, makes it feel so much better.

I can’t wait to further hop into this game and take it to the endgame and see what the game has in store, but from what it looks like for bosses, It will take a while.

V Rising was released on Steam originally, but you can find it making its way to PlayStation 5 sometime in 2024, either way, happy hunting new and old blood.
