2016’s Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana featured voice acting for many characters, primarily during cutscenes. Lacrimosa of Dana’s English localization was published by Nippon Ichi Software America, which is headquartered in Santa Ana, California. With Nordics releasing this Friday, let’s take a look at who voiced which characters in Ys 8.
Main Characters
Like in other Ys games, Adol Christin‘s voice actor in Lacrimosa of Dana is Bryce Papenbrook. Papenbrook is also reprising his role as Adol in Nordics. Similarly, Patrick Seitz voices Dogi in Lacrimosa of Dana. Dana, the game’s second protagonist, is voiced by Brianna Knickerbocker. Knickerbocker has also voiced for several other games, such as Octopath Traveler and Final Fantasy VII Remake.
All of the other party members in the game also have voice actors. Laxia von Roswell is voiced by Kira Buckland, who has voiced for Zenless Zone Zero and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Sahad Nautilus is voiced by Paul St. Peter, who has voiced characters in Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Kingdom Hearts III. Sean Chiplock, who is also voicing for the upcoming indie platformer Billie Bust Up!, voiced Hummel Trabaldo. Ricotta Beldine is voiced by Jackie Lastra, who went on to voice for Genshin Impact and Visions of Mana.
Side Characters
All of the members of Castaway Village also have voice actors. Their maximum Affinity cutscenes are fully voiced, and any important cutscenes that take place in the village are also voiced. The castaways also have voice clips that play when they assist Adol’s party during raids, as well as when the results screen of a raid is shown. Unfortunately, the English voice actors aren’t listed in the game’s credits, so the only voice actors we know are the ones that have been shared by publisher NIS America or by the voice actors themselves.

Final Thoughts
It’s unfortunate that the credits for the English version of Lacrimosa of Dana don’t list the English voice actors. They did a phenomenal job, and they deserve to have their work recognized and credited. With Nordics’ English version releasing on Friday, hopefully, its credits will include a full list of the English voice actors.
