Gamescom 2024 showed off many exciting reveals within the gaming industry. Warframe developers Digital Extremes appeared at the show, and they revealed details of the next update coming to the game titled ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’. This update is expected to be released sometime this year in the Fall. DE also gave some insight into Cyte-09, a Warframe coming to the game in Winter 2024. Warframe is a free-to-play co-op MMO with mountains of content, bosses to fight, weapons to build, and so much more. More updates are expected to drop- including the highly anticipated ‘Warframe: 1999’- as Warframe creeps up on its 12th anniversary.
Koumei And The Five Fates
The next update coming to Warframe this Fall, ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’, was revealed in TennoVIP during Gamescom. This update was first teased at Tennocon 2024 under the title ‘Unannounced 2024 Update’, but we received minimal information on the content included. One of the confirmed additions in this update is a new Caliban Deluxe skin with a ghostly Ephemera to match. A host of Quality Of Life (QOL) changes are also arriving in ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’ including the second half of the Companion Rework 2.0. Further work on cross-platform trading will also be done in this update to improve the smoothness and reliability of trading between platforms.
During Gamescom 2024, it was revealed that the ‘Unannounced 2024 Update’ is titled ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’. Following the ‘Jade Shadows’ update, this Autumn content drop will include a new Stalker-themed Nightwave series. The cover art for this update shows a dreary image of Cetus. Fully fleshed-out Nightwave seasons are one of Warframe’s most beloved forgotten features. With most of the focus seemingly on Nightwave for this update, we may see the return of interactive seasons like The Glassmaker and The Wolf Of Saturn Six. A new Warframe is also set to release in this update. More will be revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2024.
New Volt Skin Sprints Into View
Originally, the starter Warframes consisted of Excalibur, Mag, and Loki, but now, Volt is one of the three starter Warframes you can play at the beginning of the game. He is one of the most versatile Warframes in the game with his electrical prowess. Volt is capable of completing all the content Warframe has to offer, and as a result, he is beloved by fans. Volt currently has 11 skins in-game, and with ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’, he will receive another Deluxe Skin. This new skin appears to be based on the Japanese God of thunder and storms, Raijin, as this skin features the tomoe symbol. Raijin is often shown sporting this symbol while beating on traditional taiko drums.
‘Warframe: 1999’ Draws Near
The largest update coming to Warframe in 2024, ‘Warframe: 1999’, will be a major expansion to the game. This update will bring new characters, new areas to explore, a mainline story quest, and much more. At Tennocon 2024, ‘Warframe: 1999’ was shown in greater detail. Included in this update is the new Warframe Cyte-09. With his real name being Quincy, Cyte-09 will be a gunsmith type of character. His abilities and skills are unknown currently, but at TennoVIP at Gamescom 2024, fans got a sneak peek into what’s in store for him with a quick in-game look. Quincy will be one of the Protoframes of The Hex, the main faction in ‘Warframe: 1999’, which means he will be romancable.
Another member of The Hex is named Lettie, or Leticia Garcia, and she is a Trinity Protoframe. She serves as the faction’s stern, reluctant healer. Warframe is partnering with animation studio The Line to bring fans an animated short upon ‘Warframe: 1999’s release. An early rendition of Lettie from the animation, drawn by Venla Linna, was shown off during Gamescom. This isn’t the first time Warframe has commissioned an animation for a release, and you can watch Styanax’s launch animation here. As ‘Warframe: 1999’ and ‘Koumei And The Five Fates’ approach fast, now is as good a time as ever to pick up Warframe. It is free to play on all platforms including PC, Consoles, and Switch.
