Warframe: A Foolproof Guide To Interception 2024

A variety of mission types exist in the massively popular video game, Warframe. From defending a cryopod from onslaughts of enemies to collecting life support to stay alive, Warframe is jam-packed with playable content. One of these mission types is named Interception, and it is Warframe’s Capture the Flag game mode. In this mode, the player has to capture four points and fend off enemies trying to reclaim them. Understandably, this proves rather difficult if you are a solo player- especially if you’re on the newer side. This guide will teach you strategies to never struggle with Interception again.

How To Complete Interception Missions

As stated, Interception is Warframe’s Capture the Flag mode. The player has to capture and defend four radio towers on the map until the message has been fully decoded (shown in a meter on the side of the screen). Depending on the tileset, solo Interception can be painful to complete. One moment, you’ve captured a tower, and then the next, two more towers are captured by enemies. It can be hard to keep up if not properly equipped, especially in Warframe’s Hard mode, the Steel Path. Interception is a piece of cake if you’re able to wipe out large groups of enemies on a whim. However, many players don’t have access to this kind of power.

The Xaku Strategy

This strategy, utilizing Xaku’s third ability, is rather unknown within the community. Xaku, a Warframe formed from the fusion of three separate Warframes, has a wheel of three different abilities in their third ability slot. Abilities are Warframe’s equivalent of powers or spells. In Xaku’s case, they sport Accuse, Gaze, and Deny as their third ability. Gaze is arguably the most important from the wheel and is the key to making this strategy function. While an enemy attempts to capture a tower at the terminal (you will hear an alarm blaring and the enemy typing as this happens) you will want to cast Gaze on that enemy.

Gaze completely immobilizes whatever enemy it is cast on. It freezes them in time, and as a bonus, this ability creates a ring of Armor Strip around them. Not only is the Armor Strip useful for reducing enemies’ defenses and making them easier to kill, but because they were frozen while attempting to overtake the tower, this prevents the tower entirely from being captured by the enemy. As long as Gaze is cast while the enemy is actively capturing the tower, that tower will be completely safe due to the inner mechanics of Interception missions. Xaku can hold two enemies in their Gaze which means you can effectively “turn off” half the towers.

Take Victory Using Crowd Control

Crowd control will be your biggest friend when tackling this type of mission. Nyx, capable of confusing an entire room of enemies into shooting each other, is a great option if you do not have access to Xaku. Pair Nyx with Octavia’s Helminth ability, Mallet, and you will have enemies aimlessly running around instead of capturing the towers. This method is less effective than Xaku, but if you’re on a budget or haven’t farmed this Warframe yet, it will work just fine. Remember: you don’t want to kill enemies when playing Nyx in Interception. As always, cooperative play will be easier- especially on Interception.
