Released in 2012 under Kadokawa Games, Lollipop Chainsaw is a hack-and-slash zombie game where you pilot Juliet Sterling. Lollipop Chainsaw‘s gameplay rewards players with all the chopping, gruesome action you would expect from its title. The player can gain special moves by using ‘golden medals’, which are purchased in many ways. ‘Platinum Medals’ are gained from activating sparkle hunting, which is done by killing three or more zombies quickly. Using Nick’s head, Juliet can use specific move combos to defeat zombie enemies. This is done by obtaining ‘nick tickets’, which can then be used to activate the ‘nick roulette’.
The story focuses on the mysterious outbreak, an event that the main character goes through. Juliet’s school is overrun by zombies, on her birthday, nonetheless. Using her skills as a zombie hunter, this cheerleader hacks and slashes her way through San Romero High School. Juliet Starling is accompanied by her boyfriend Nick Carlyle, who has been reduced to a severed head to save him from infection. The two of them are set on a journey through the school, fighting off the undead horde, the ‘Dark Purveyors’, and ‘Swan’. Swan is a former student who was bullied by the jocks and now wants revenge.
Bloody Influence & Legacy
Lollipop Chainsaw has amassed a cult following by fans since its release. The game was fine when it first came out, but its popularity has only continued to grow.
