Stardew Valley, one of the most popular indie games in the world, is known for its activities like farming, mining, fighting, fishing, making friends, and more. Fish are needed for a variety of things in the game from quests and gifting to completing the community center.

In the article, we’re going to go over everything you need to know about where to catch walleye in Stardew Valley, from conditions needed, what it’s needed for, and more. The Walleye is a freshwater fish that’s one of the more difficult fish to catch thanks to its spawning requirements.

Where to Catch Walleye in Stardew Valley

In Stardew Valley, Walleye can be found in various places including the rivers, Mountain Lake, Cindersnap Forest Pond, and Forest Farm Pond. The Cindersap Forest Pond has the highest spawn rate of Walleye during specific conditions which will be discussed later.

For players who decide to play on the Forest Farm map, you don’t even have to leave your farm to catch this fish! This farm layout includes 4 different bodies of water that players can use to catch Walleye during the right conditions.

Other fish that can be caught on the forest farm include Carp, Catfish, Midnight Carp, Perch, Pike, Smallmouth Bass, and Woodskips. However, it should be noted that it’s more common to catch trash on your farm than fish. It is doable with some patience.

Season, Time, and Weather Conditions Needed for Catching Walleye

In Stardew Valley, Walleye spawn naturally in the fall. During this season, particularly on rainy days, Walleye can be caught with the highest chance, 32%, at the Cindersap Forest Pond. Timing is also crucial for this fish, it can be caught between the hours of 12 PM to 2 AM in-game time.

During Winter, Walleye can be caught, but there’s a catch. You do have to use a Rain Totem to get them to spawn. The Rain Totem causes it to rain, creating the preferred conditions for the Walleye. Using a Rain Totem expands your opportunity to catch Walleye if you happen to miss them in the fall.

Easiest Methods to Catch Walleye

Beginners should focus on getting and using appropriate tools and understanding the importance of patience and timing when it comes to fishing in the game. An iridium rod and bait will make your life a lot easier. Once you collect the right tools and know where to catch walleye in Stardew Valley, you’ll have it as a part of your collection in no time.

For players who prefer not to fish, there are some alternative methods you can utilize to obtain a walleye. They can sometimes be found in garbage cans throughout Pelican Town in the fall and winter. The Traveling Cart, which appears in Cindersnap Forest on Fridays and Sundays, occasionally sells Walleye as well. You can also look for magic bait in the cart which provides players with the ability to catch any fish in the game no matter what weather, time, or season it is.

Uses for Walleye

Completing the Night Fishing Bundle at the Community Center requires specific fish, including the Walleye. This contribution not only aids in restoring the Community Center but also rewards players with valuable items and boosts their standing within the community.
