Ghost of Tsushima is one of the most iconic games on Sony’s PlayStation 4 console. Released during the twilight of the predecessor to the PlayStation 5, the game was meant to be a celebration of many things Sony. A great single-player campaign with tremendous world-building, solid gameplay, and coming in the Sony tradition of great console exclusives.
Things are a bit different now. With the dawn of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X/S era, platform exclusives have begun to take a back seat. This has been the case with Microsoft, but it is an ailment that seems to be affecting Sony as well. Enter the era of ‘timed exclusives.’ A practice where top console exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima, following a number of years, start making their way onto PCs and potentially beyond. This brings us to the present topic: Will the Ghost of Tsushima Ever Come to Xbox?
Ghost Of Tsushima On PCs

For those who have been keeping pace with gaming news in recent years, one of the developments has been the lack of console exclusives on both platforms. Whilst Sony led the way on top-notch exclusive titles and eventually sealed its victory in the console wars for the 8th console generation, the Japanese game developer and related studios have not been able to pump out top-quality exclusives at the same pace this time round. One of the ways in which this state of affairs has been mitigated has been the backward compatibility of top titles.
This is a welcome change, particularly if those games receive next-gen upgrades. Another arguably less-than-welcome change has been the entry of top PS5 and PS4 exclusives on PCs from God of War (2018) to Spider-Man (2018). Then, earlier this year, Ghost of Tsushima made its way onto PCs. The question is, what happens to Xbox gaming system owners? Any chance this game will become available for them?
Playing Ghost Of Tsushima On Xbox – Still A Way To Go

There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes at Microsoft and Sony. Both game and system developers recognize the growing power of PC gaming and the costs that go into the development of AAA titles. They also know that making key exclusives available on both platforms may seem like a win-win. On the Xbox side, Microsoft recognizes the utility of Windows as a gaming platform and views closer integration with Xbox as a logical step forward, with services like PC Game Pass.
For Sony, whilst an arch-rival of Microsoft, it, too, recognizes the potential of the PC market. The profits and growth potential for its exclusives appear to dampen its commitment to remain a console-first developer. At the same time, Sony also recognizes the growing potential of handhelds, with a move into handhelds with the PS5 Portal. But, as far as traditional Sony exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima being freely available on Xbox consoles, there is still a way to go.
Ghost Of Tsushima 2 On Xbox?
At this point, it is fair to assume that many Xbox fans would be looking at the chance to play PlayStation games on PC as a starting point. This is a good start. The real question is what happens to future releases? Will sequels and prequels of top Sony exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima 2 come to the Xbox now that Microsoft is opening up its games to other platforms? This is a more interesting question.
