The people of Meta Quest have helped bring gaming to the next level in virtual reality with Witchblood. Now, they have announced a new way to bring you a classic once available on the Samsung Gear VR Rift, which later arrived for the Oculus Go. Players will get their fill of adventure in a mixed reality setting of their surroundings parted with a window into an intricate diorama world into death, despair, and magic. In it, they will discover hundreds of rooms of puzzles and death around every bend and level. Hidden Path Entertainment has announced that WitchBlood will be available on the Meta Quest 3, 2, and Pro on July 18th.
Oculus Opens Reality To Adventure In Witchblood
The synopsis for the game reads:
“With the charm and heart of beloved classics, WitchBlood is the story of a young witch who must master newfound powers after a zealous madman slays her father. Traveling through mystical puzzle landscapes in all directions, she must defeat an oppressive cult and dangerous creatures to reveal the mysteries of her origin and claim the power of her birthright.”
In Witchblood, you are Clara Pathemore, and you have lost everything. If that wasn’t enough, Clara discovers she is alone in a murky forest and is being hunted by zealots. Your home, town, and all you knew have been taken over, and now you have to find the strength within you to fight back. She must answer the evil facing her by gaining and developing the magic burning within her and making the Hunters pay for all they have done.Witchblood is a cross between Metroid and Castlevania, a side-scrolling game in which you control Clara as the main character.
It won’t be easy to guide her through mazes, unknown forests, villages, homes, and castles, defeating enemies as you go while gaining new abilities. The game of Witchblood appears as a 3D diorama where you can see what is around you but also move, resize, and angle the game in front of you. Once in, the combat style is easy to learn and immersive with an almost endless chain of rooms, bosses, upgrades, and levels. Witchblood is a game that could be perceived negatively in VR as it looks like a television screen in midair, but having it in VR powers the magic, spurring players on to follow Clara’s journey of vengeance.

As to its difficulty, the game isn’t that hard to pick up. It’s not difficult to master Clara’s movements and her combat style. The upgrades are fun and immersive, making it impressive to choose which path would be best depending on the challenges faced. Depending on your pick of weapons with a few magical spells, Clara just has to use them before something worse finds her. The difficulty of the game continually challenges players to offer satisfaction.
They have to bring their best and improve what they have to take down the nasties that seem to be all around. This may be a little too simple for serious gamers but it is still fun and gratifying. Meta Quest 3 has added another mode called passthrough, which, when activated, makes all the walls disappear with the hit of a button. This, combined with the unique way its map system is set up, makes for a continuous challenge. Once you complete a section of the map, it fades into the background with the new map overlaying it.
This makes it easier to see what you have done and go back if needed. For VR lovers, Witchblood is a wonderful experience that bends reality around revealing magic. It is easy to pick up and play, and it has a beautiful picture, story, and map system. It isn’t like anything you have ever seen before in a reality displacement adventure.
