Blizzard-Activision will be launching the pre-expansion content for the most popular MMORPG game, World of Warcraft: War Within on July 23. The update will include the “Visions of Azeroth” questline, Dragonriding availability with all flying mounts in all flyable areas, and the introduction of the new Warbands character system. Additionally, from July 23 to August 26, World of Warcraft will have a new event called “Answer the Call of the Radiant Echoes” where players can grind out special rewards called Residual Memories to purchase new items for their own Warbands.
Visions of Azeroth
The first questline released for the MMORPG was called “Dark Heart” which goes into the story of the new World of Warcraft villain Xal’ Atath, and the coming darkness of the chaotic forces of the void. Not many details have been officially released on the “Visions of Azeroth” questline. All we know is that this quest line will complete the final chapter of the Dragonflight quest line and will be the stepping stone into the story leading into The War Within expansion.
Dragonriding
Dragonriding (also known as dynamic flight) which was introduced in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, will be renamed Skyriding and will be available to all flying mounts and will be allowed in all flying zones. Skyriding will not be replacing the Burning Crusade flying style, however, it will be called steady flight. Players will be able to toggle between the two flying styles to switch up how they will fly around the world of Azeroth.
Warbands
Warbands is a groundbreaking feature Blizzard is adding to World of Warcraft that will dramatically change how players interact with their characters. Players will be able to put a select few characters in these Warbands allowing players to share reputation, progression, transmog, gold, and even combined banking among Warband members.
Warbands are chosen across all realms with two major exceptions between regions (United States vs. Europe) and different accounts. Additionally, characters within in Warband can’t share that Warband benefits with other Warbands in a players account.
The enhanced banking can be earned by completing the “Warbanding Together” storyline quest in which you help the denizens of Gadgetzan. You will also unlock the Warband Bank distance Inhibitor spell which will allow you to summon a personal portal directly to your new Warband Bank, where you can make withdrawals and deposits for 10 minutes (This ability has a 10-minute cooldown.)
A new gear type is Warbound until Equipped (WuE) which allows players to trade this item among Warbands until one of their characters equips the new item, in which it becomes soulbound. WuE gear can be earned in dungeons, raids, delves, and wherever you can earn loot.
Warbands now share achievements and will be given a score based on how many achievements they have earned. This allows competitive players to work towards getting the best achievement score. Map exploration is also shared across all with a new toy called The Warband Map to Everywhere All At Once which which is unlocked by having two max-level characters within your Warband. Wealth is shared across Warbands but must be transferred through the currency user interface.
Radiant Echoes Event
From July 30 to August 26 there will be an event that will allow players to unlock a new currency called Residual Memories which will allow players to purchase new items to add to their Warband’s collection. All players will be allowed to attend this event regardless of the purchase of The War Within Expansion.
Players who have reached level 70 will be given an introduction quest to the event and must take a journey to Dalaran. The event will occur in four stages and will cycle between three zones. The first week the zones will cycle every 90 minutes, then 60 minutes next week, and for the last two weeks, the zones will cycle every 30 minutes. This event will go into events of Azeroth past with major names such as the Lich King, Onyxia, and even Ragnoros being a part of the event.
