Teamfight Tactics Set 14: Slaying Out with The Best Reroll Composition

The Kitty Cat Rengar has taken multiple hits recently in Teamfight Tactics Set 14 Cyber City. As a result, a reroll composition must take his place. Step up, the Slayer Vayne reroll. Vayne was on the periphery for some time, but with the significant buffs to Jarvan IV in Patch 14.2, it rose to power. There is a slight twist to how you play the Slayer Vayne reroll, so let’s dive into it.

Vayne is a two-cost unit in Cyber City. With her being the predominant carry in this composition, the general thought would be to reroll at level six. However, that is not the case here. There are reasons why it is better to reroll at level seven instead of six. The first reason is the other units we want to three-star. While you can look for three-star Rhaast along with Vayne, he rarely achieves what you look for in the frontline.

Vayne needs time to ramp up in fights, and the best unit to do that is Jarvan IV. Because he has the Slayer trait, Vayne and Senna (the other three cost units we can look for) will heal him during combat, making him nearly unkillable. Braum is another possibility, but given you are looking for Vayne, Jarvan IV, and Senna as primaries, you are unlikely to three-star him. We also want to have a chance to find Zed and Leona, which will be easier to do at level seven. Lastly, our level seven composition is four Slayers, four Vanguard, rounding out our traits for the late game.

The composition we play around Vayne, Jarvan IV, and Senna becomes simple to build. Between the three of them are three Slayers, so adding one more is necessary. Given Zed is the highest-cost Slayer, he slots in comfortably. Next, we must build a frontline around Jarvan’s tank trait, Vanguard. With two Vanguards in Sylas and Leona sharing Anima Squad with Vayne, naturally, they slot in. Lastly, we need a fourth Vanguard. The two options are Rhaast or Braum. While Rhaast provides an additional Divinicorp, it is often better to run Braum, given that he is a better overall frontline unit.

Slayer Vayne Early Game

Ideally, you want to play around tempo in the early game. Having Guinsoo’s Rageblade on Vayne, accompanied by an upgraded Vanguard frontline, will go a long way in ensuring you win streak. Fitting in Anima Squad is ideal as the early game damage from the trait and the trait bonuses make Vayne dangerous. While specific items for Vayne are vital in this composition, it is better to win streak than look to lose to guarantee an item component. Vayne is predominantly looking for double Guinsoo’s Rageblade with Runaan’s Hurricane, Giant Slayer, or Guardbreaker.

Slayer Vayne Mid-Game

If you have not found two-star Vayne and upgraded frontlines, you can roll on level six to stabilize your board. Four Vanguard is the best frontline you can play during this stage. We still want to maintain our tempo during Stage Three to give ourselves enough breathing room while we complete our board in the late game. Hold copies of Vayne, Jarvan, and Senna that you can find, with the priority falling on Vayne and Jarvan. Senna only becomes good to focus on when you have excess AD items and are comfortable economically. Ideally, you have fully itemized Vayne and have given tank items to your upgraded frontline.

Slayer Vayne Late Game

We want to be level seven in Stage Four to complete the board. Remember, the priority for three stars is Vayne>Jarvan>Senna>Braum. In most cases, you will skip out on Senna and Braum. If you are not looking for a three-star Senna, give leftover AD items to Zed as your secondary carry.

Leftover tank items go to three-star Braum or, if you do not find him, to your two-star Leona. Once you hit three-star Vayne and Jarvan, push to level eight, even if you are close to Senna and Braum. While there is a lower chance for you to find them at level eight, there is still a chance. You also want to add better units like Garen, Renekton, or Zac to cap the Slayer board.

When to Play Slayer Vayne

Slayer Vayne is item-hungry, so playing this composition on low item starts is not recommended. Playing it early without Guinsoo’s Rageblade is not the best since Vayne struggles without the Attack Speed Item. An early two-star Vayne with Rageblade will almost always guarantee an early win streak unless someone else in the lobby hits a high roll. If you get the Category Five augment, that can be an indicator to play this composition, as Vayne has the highest cap with the augment, but you need other aspects to be in line.

Best Augments to Take

Item Augments are a priority for this composition, especially on 2-1. An Eye for an Eye, or Big Grab Bag, helps you get more item components, while Pandora’s Items gives you ideal items. Category Five is the best augment since it increases Vayne’s potency. Other combat augments like Pumping Up, Long Distance Pals, Anger Issues, or Blossoming Lotus will enable the composition. Heroic Grab Bag is another option to guarantee you find Vayne and Jarvan. Lethal Rerouting is possible with Slayer Vayne, but it is better for a Shaco reroll composition.
