NetEase Officially Announced Destiny Rising For Mobile

Destiny Rising

For a few years now, there have been some rumors in the gaming community about the long-awaited Destiny mobile game, Destiny Rising, making its way to mobile in a while. But this is no longer just a rumor or speculation as Destiny Rising has been proven to actually exist, as it was confirmed by NetEase. A mobile FPS co-op shooter from a popular franchise might just be what many mobile gamers have been after.

News About Destiny: Rising

The rumors grew intense over the last few months ever since Bungie laid off 220 developers amidst the speculation of gamers wondering what was going on at that time. Recently, NetEase announced Destiny Rising, a mobile game under the series of the current Destiny franchise, marking the end of the supposed rumors and becoming an actual reality.

Destiny Rising will be a free-to-play mobile shooter. The game showcases a timeline during the post-Collapse era, and it claims to offer a mix of co-op, single-player, and multiplayer modes, including some that will be familiar to current Destiny players.

Bungie Has Partial Involvement

Considering the recent happenings at Bungie, including the massive layoffs earlier this year, it seems that Bungie is only tangentially involved in the production of Destiny Rising. Also, considering Destiny’s player base, it doesn’t seem like they would want a mobile version of the well-received Destiny 2, as they seem quite satisfied with the current ports.

Therefore, going ahead with an all-in development of Destiny Rising by Bungie would only be a waste of resources and manpower for Bungie. And if this analysis is correct, sticking to partially being involved in the production seems to be the right choice.

The Destiny Rising press release stated that the game is only published by Bungie due to NetEase being the one fully focused on the game’s production, while Bungie is only sitting in the back seat and watching how everything will play out in the end. Surprisingly, even the Destiny Rising trailer tried to point out confirmation.

An Alternate Destiny Timeline

The game is marketed as an alternate Destiny timeline in post-collapse earth, the game goes further away from the base series and is too coincidental to not conclude that NetEase is not monopolizing Destiny Rising. In all, the game offers a vibrant and modern feel of the world today, rather than a period that we’re told. The lore is rich with bloodthirsty warlords and bands of human beings on the edge of survival, desperately seeking a roof over their heads.

Players would be playing as a customizable character, Wolf, or they could choose to play as other characters, including some known names like Ikora Rey. Players would also have Haven Ops strike missions, which is no doubt similar to the Vanguard Ops of the main series, and Destiny Rising also offers the Gauntlet Ops, which the official site calls “raid-like”.

Conclusion

The game’s visuals are all good, and the replayability is high, but if you’ve got a liking to shoot purple magic at aliens, on your phone, the website is open for gamers to pre-register to try out the alpha version of Destiny Rising.
