If you’re into Marvel Rivals, the superhero shooter that’s been taking over my gaming nights, you’ve probably heard the big news. Rocket Raccoon is getting a major nerf in the Season 2 update. I’ve been playing this game a ton, and Rocket’s always been one of my first picks, so this caught my attention right away. The update drops on April 11, 2025, and it’s got some changes that might shake up how we play him.
Nerf Details: What’s Happening to Rocket?
The devs are tweaking Rocket Raccoon’s abilities to dial back his dominance. According to the official patch notes, here’s what’s changing:
- Repair Mode: Healing’s down from 70 to 50 health per second, but it now has a 55 health burst upfront. The projectile speed reduction also jumps from 4.5 m/s to 7 m/s.
- Jetpack Dash: Cooldown goes from 6 to 10 seconds, and the dash distance drops from 10 to 8 meters.
- C.Y.A. (Ultimate): Damage boost falls from 40% to 25%, and energy cost rises from 3700 to 4000. There’s a new health bonus, 100 health per second up to 150, fading when the link breaks.
- Team-Up (with Winter Soldier): The Infinite Grit trait for Winter Soldier is gone, hurting their combo potential.
Rocket’s been a powerhouse, holding an S-tier spot according to PCGamesN’s tier list. I get why they’re nerfing him; he’s been a bit too good at healing and zipping around, but it still stings to see these cuts.
How Players Are Taking It
The Marvel Rivals community is buzzing about this. On Reddit, one player, Rockets7thburneracc, said, “This might make Rocket less fun to play.” Others are worried he’ll just be a boring healer now, with less room for clever moves. Sites like TheGamer and ScreenRant report mixed feelings. Some think it’s fair; others feel it’s too harsh. I’m torn myself. I love Rocket’s playstyle, but I’ve seen how he can dominate matches.
Wrapping It Up
This nerf is a big deal for Marvel Rivals, Rocket Raccoon fans especially. It’s going to change how I approach matches, and I’m curious if he’ll stay a solid pick or if I’ll need a new main. Season 2 is going to be wild either way. Want more updates on Marvel Rivals or other games? Hit up Total Apex Gaming’s news section; they’ve got the latest.
