Metroid Prime 4: Beyond: Everything We Saw In The Nintendo Treehouse Gameplay

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Now that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has released its trailer and its release on Nintendo Switch 2 has been announced, what’s left for us to wait for? Oh yeah, the gameplay preview from Nintendo Treehouse Live! The first look gameplay gave us more insight into what we can expect of the newest Metroid Prime in the series, and it’s looking pretty sweet! With just a few minutes of gameplay we can understand how Samus ended up in the situation on Viewros. Let’s take a little look at what the start of Metroid Prime 4 holds for us!

In The Beginning

This sneak peek into Metroid Prime 4 gave us some valuable information about the situation that landed Samus on Viewros. We start off watching a firefight between the Galactic Federation and Space Pirates when Samus makes her iconic entrance. Our favorite bounty hunter has been tasked to secure an ancient artifact at the Galactic Federation research facility, and she’s going to fight through a slough of enemies to make sure it’s protected (you know, just another Thursday).

We’ve been given a look at who will be our Big Bads for the foreseeable future during Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. And the jury was right; evidence from the prior Metroid Prime games is confirmed! Sylux is the leader of the space pirates that are attacking the facility, We see a little bit of him before the artifact is activated after being knocked around during the fight. That wasn’t the only thing that we saw.

A Metroid made its appearance during after Samus come in contact with the Abarex, a giant creature wearing golden armor and loves energy attacks way to much, and is absorbed into the Abarex’s body and giving it a significant power boost!

So, we have Sylux, Space Pirates, Metroids, and currently unknown enemies from the planet Viewros. Samus is going to have her work cut out for her in Metroid Prime 4 (she should petition for a vacay, honestly). I can’t wait to see the rest of the game if this is what we’ve seen at just the beginning.

The Gameplay

The gameplay looks smooth, easily going from first-person to third-person depending on what form Samus is in (yes, they kept orb ball thank goodness). The player, from the looks of it, can switch between two function of the Joy-Con 2 controllers, either the handheld or mouse function with minimal character control issues.

The graphics are nice and crisp, sticking to the classic imagery of Metroid Prime but bringing it up to modern quality without losing much. The HUD system has clear indicators that show your tracker map, weapons loadout, minimap, and missiles inventory. All easily seen for the quick glances you’ll need during the battles ahead. So, unless something really horrible goes wrong between now and the release date, we can expect a good quality game to finish off the Metroid Prime series.

This Is Going To Be Good

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond looks to be shaping up to be a great game to play. The opening sequence sets the pace for the game, where we’ve been dropped into an unknown situation, and we have to fight. Fans can’t wait to see what the devs have planned for when the game begins. Will they have more new things for us to experience, or are they gonna keep to the core of the series for Metroid Prime 4?
