Nubby’s Number Factory, The BEST Plinko Style Rougelike

Nubby's Number Factory

Nubby’s Number Factory is a game about numbers, specifically making numbers bigger. Traditionally, this is done by throwing the Nubby at number pegs. Nubby then steals those numbers from the numbered pegs and adds them to your number. The more pegs you hit, the more numbers you get, and the bigger your number becomes. Now, if making your number bigger wasn’t hard enough, you also need to meet or exceed a number quota. Failing to do so will result in the sun exploding. As you may be able to guess, this would be a bad thing.

The Aesthetics

This game is dripping with style. Now, that style might be early 2000s 3d animation, but in 2025, it goes hard. This game gives you a weird feeling of nostalgia for a game that came out this year and that you are currently playing. The look of the game is so fun and a clear display of hard work, effort and attention to detail. Every item moves, and every background has something going on. It says something about MogDog that they put in the extra effort to use 3D models for most of the game assets when they could have easily made a 2D game with static items, and it still would have been amazing.

The Gameplay

In Nubby’s Number Factory, you progress through various levels, obtaining gold. With gold, you obtain new items, and over time, you’ll get new perks. Items affect Nubby, and perks affect the board. There are thousands of combinations of items and perks and even the slot locations of your items. You can build toward keeping nubby bouncing for as long as possible or toward throwing him away as quickly as possible, fill your screen with laser or snot or meatballs; the possibilities are endless! One of the most fun parts about Nubby, though, has to be the meta discussion.

For example, I had a cheese house on slot 7 with 2 void perks on an amnesia run. I decided to check the cafe to try for a kebab, only to eat a lentil, which turned my cheese house into pants, so I went back to the shop to fill some slots. Still, all they had was jacks and a 1-ton-of-feathers, which kinda works with what I have, but I forgot to put the jacks in slot 7 and move the pants elsewhere and ended up boofing the whole run. Now, you may think that was nonsense psychobabble that should land me a trip to the grippy socks world for a while, but I promise it makes sense in context.

In Conclusion

There are challenges to complete after you complete your first run that add a lot to the game and unlock new supervisors, meaning more ways to play. MogDog has been quick with bug fixes and updates. Check it out on Steam today!
