Teamfight Tactics Set 14: Hacking a Path to Victory

Teamfight Tactics Anima Squad

Hackers have entered the Teamfight Tactics Convergence. These hackers are not your usual variety. They are here to create equal opportunities for all players instead of bettering the odds for one. So, how did they enter the convergence? Cyber City’s Set Mechanic revolves around these hackers and would be obsolete without it. Today, we dive deeper into what hacks you can expect and how to manage them during your journey.

Hacks will appear around three times per game. If a hack appears for one player, it applies to the entire lobby. Several types will affect the game. Players will not see every hack until deep into their Cyber City journey. Opening encounters, augments, shops, PvE enemies, carousels, and more can get hacked. Some alter the game more than others do.

Opening Encounters

  • Hacked 2.5% Augment: Extra Augment round in stage 2.
  • Hacked 3.0% Augment: Extra Augment round at the end of stage 3.
  • Hacked 2.5% Augment: Extra Augment round at the end of stage 4.
  • Hacked 2.0% Augment: Extra Augment round at the start of stage 5.
  • Hacked 7.0% Aurelion Sol: The Stage 4 NPC round gets replaced with a re-rollable Treasure Armory.
  • Hacked 6.0% Azir: The Augment rounds moved earlier in the game.
  • Hacked 5.0% Hacked Egg: Pick an egg with 1 of 3 hatching times at the start of Stage 4.
  • Hacked 4.0% Mecha Soldier: Lucky shops tailored to your traits can appear.
  • Hacked 4.0% Sentinel: Pick a Sentinel unit with 1 of 3 combat roles at the end of Stage 4.
  • Hacked 2.0% Mecha Minion: Two-star units can appear in your shop.

Augments

Themed Augment Slots: The left Augment slot has additional rerolls and shows Augments from a specific category. Augment slots can be Items, Economy (gold, XP, rerolls), Chaos (Have random outputs), Traits, Black Market (bringing back old Augments that were too hard to balance), Buildaround (Augments that shape your team composition), Formation (Augments that impact positioning on your board), and Combat (Augments that buff combat power).

  • One Gold/Prismatic Augment or two Gold/Silver Augments: Players get offered the choice of one or two augments. It will be a choice between two silver augments and a gold augment or two gold augments and a prismatic augment.
  • Fourth Augment: There will be an additional Augment round in this game.
  • Augment Timing: Augments can move to different rounds. Augments only move to earlier rounds.

Shop Hacks

  • Lucky Shops:  These shops are always lucky. Like all Hacks, Lucky Shop will affect players once in a stage, in a random round. During this round, the first shop will be lucky, containing units tailored to their team.
  • Two-Star Shops: Occasionally, a two-star unit will appear in your shop

Carousel Hacks

  • Champion Duplicator Hacks: Some carousels may have Lesser Champion Duplicators or Champion Duplicators alongside a component.
  • Tailored Items: Each unit on the carousel will have two completed items attached from the unit’s recommended items list.
  • Anvil Carousel: Anvils replace champions on the carousel. There is a chance to be artifact anvils in the late game.

More Hacks

  • Hacked Eggs: Players receive eggs that contain loot. The loot power depends on how long the egg takes to hatch. Hacked Eggs appear in Hacked Loot Orbs. There is also a Hack that will open up an Armory of three different lengths of eggs to choose from, with short, medium, and long variations that have prize power that scales with duration to hatch.
  • Tactician Health: Hacked Loot orbs may give all players ten health.
  • Unstable Item Components: Unstable Item Components transform into a different item component each round. The item components function the same as Pandora’s Items. Drops from Hacked Loot Orbs
  • Take it or Split it?: Opens up an Armory that presents two choices for all players: take x gold or split x gold from whoever chooses the latter.

Final Thoughts

Hacks rarely significantly impact the game since they affect all players. While some, like the Encounter Hacks, have a considerable influence on the game, the tempo will remain the same for the most part. So far, players have thoroughly enjoyed Cyber City’s set mechanic, but how they will feel at the end of the set is still to be determined.
